Toure, who turns 35 in March, has only made five starts this season but turned the clock back on Tuesday. The Ivorian, who will be out of contract in June, said: “If I can play like that then maybe I will go to Real Madrid!. I don’t know what I’ll do at the end of this season but I’d like to stay in the Premier League.”
Toure believes that young players need to step up
Liverpool have been hit with a lot of injury problems this season with key players missing out on action regularly. However, Kolo believes that his side can overcome the crisis if their young players can step up and produce a consistent fighting spirit. The 34-year-old also believes that the time has come for the youngsters at the club to show their strength by understanding that they need to fight in every game, and not just when it suits them.
“We have a young team and they need to learn the past is gone and every performance is a challenge where you must give 100 percent no matter who you play,” he explained. That is what happened to me in my career. You learn there is no time to relax. To come to Stoke and play like we did is one thing, but if we go to Exeter [for Friday night’s FA Cup third-round tie] and think it is going to be easy, then we will find ourselves in a tough game.”
“We need that team spirit in every game. If you think you are going to win easily, then you have no chance because this is a very difficult league – anybody can win,” he added.
The Ivory Coast international is also ready to force his recovery process in order to be available for selection on Friday against Exeter, as Liverpool are running short of options at the back.
