Liverpool jumped out to a 2-0 advantage on Arsenal in London on Friday, only to fall behind 3-2 over the space of five minutes and then snatch a point thanks to a Roberto Firmino equalizer.
That result meant Liverpool failed to take advantage of two of the three teams ahead of them, Manchester United and Chelsea, dropping points over the weekend.
A showdown with bottom-of-the-table Swansea, who have played one game under interim boss Leon Britton following the firing of Paul Clement, will be expected to result in three points for Jurgen Klopp’s men. But Liverpool have dropped points in their last two home games, with a 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby against Everton and a scoreless match against West Brom.
With Tottenham again finding form, Liverpool will need to make the most of contests against Swansea, Leicester City and a tricky Burnley side, before a difficult two matches, first in the FA Cup against Everton and then a Premier League showdown with Manchester City.
Meanwhile Swansea will be looking to repeat a bit of history. In January 2017, the relegation-threatened Swans traveled to Anfield and walked away with a 3-2 victory over the Reds, a key moment in their road to safety last season.
