The one thing that can’t be denied is his absolute love for the Pokemon franchise. Whether Paul is creating a custom-made table out of Gameboy Colors or walking out at WWE WrestleMania with one of the most expensive Pokemon cards around his neck, there’s no doubt that Logan Paul is an avid Pokemon fanatic.

In an episode of Flagrant, Paul made it clear which Pokemon game holds a special place in his heart. The first generation of Pokemon gaming, Pokemon Red and Blue, and later Pokemon Yellow as a special edition, is the edition Paul finds himself going back to continuously. Paul reveals that once every three years, he’ll get the urge to buy a Gameboy Color and a copy of Pokemon Red or Pokemon Yellow to satisfy his monster-catching craving. For the social media sensation, the original release of the first 151 Pokemon is the one Paul finds to be the most appealing of all generations in existence.
Released to the world in 1998, Pokemon Red and Blue hit the market and became a global phenomenon for any child who convinced their parents to shell out enough money for a Gameboy and a copy of either Pokemon Red or Blue. Whether it’s the simplistic battle mechanics, the collectible pocket monsters, or the catchy tunes of the soundtrack, the game had it all. In Japan, it sold over one million copies by the end of 1996 and an additional 3.65 million the following year, surpassing the total sales of Final Fantasy VII. In the United States, it sold over 200,000 copies in its first two weeks while finishing the year with over four million sales. Pokemon Red and Blue became the best-selling game on the handheld device in 1999, reaching over 6.1 million homes around the country.
Paul geeked out over the Pokemon franchise for just under four minutes, describing what drives him to love the gaming series so much. Whether it’s catching the original 151 Pokemon, collecting as many cards from the Pokemon Trading Card Game, or simply talking about the designs of his favorite monsters, Paul is always up for discussing his favorite franchise. Despite the other guests cracking up over his fandom, Paul remained unashamed and was ecstatic to reveal he not only collects and plays Pokemon games, but he’ll also always remain a fan of the highest-selling entity in the world.
